Anthony D. DiNozzo Jr.
Rich kid? Frat Boy, with a Phys Ed. Degree? Ex-cop....or something more?
What we do know.
He is the son of Anthony DiNozzo Sr.
His mother died when he was 8....How is not known although he did say he was in a hospital room watching movies with his mother when she died.
He was cut off from his family money.
He went to RIMA (Rhode Island Military Academy) as a teenager.
He has a fear of Vampires, his Bete Noire.
He has a strained relationship with his father although they have been working on it in later episodes.
Gibbs found him when he was working in Baltimore as cop, he left when he discovered that his partner Danny Price was dirty, and went to work for Gibbs at NCIS.
He has been his SFA (Senior Field Agent) for over ten years.
In the show Tony is displayed as a prankster, a womaniser and 'overgrown' frat boy.
When McGee and Kate (Todd) joined the team they were always saying how much smarter they were than him. However to be a senior field agent you do have to have a Masters Degree...so he has to be smarter than he lets on.
Tony is known to hide his pain, be it an emotional or a physical one, he will however over exaggerate a small pain such as a paper cut.
A few times Tony has been seriously injured in the show, The most memorable ones was in the episode SWAK where he was infected with Y-Pestis the Pneumonic plague.
All the way through he insisted he was fine, even though watching we all knew he wasn't and were all hanging on with bated breath hoping he would pull through.
My favorite scenes in this episode were the shower scene, (So sue me I'm a woman!!!!) Where Gibbs tells them all about 'honey dust' that Tony accidentally sent him for christmas one year. The part where Gibbs tells him he will not die!, and the scene at the end where Gibbs tosses him his cell phone, (Can't break Rule 3 now can we.) and tells him women keep calling for 'Spanky!'.
I found it very telling that the writers decided not to have his father turn up in this episode, I personally would have thought that they would at least have had mention to the man. Although they did address this in a later episode when DiNozzo senior claimed to have no knowledge of his son's illness.
I have always felt throughout the show that Tony is very good at hiding his emotions, it is said that his father was emotionally bereft with him as a child and neglectful, it does seem like he has difficulty in trusting other people with his feelings as a result.
